These are tough times we are living in. Many jobs are lost, a major war
looms and the relationship between Singapore and her immediate neighbour is strained. What
implications does it hold for us teachers? What would Jesus have us do in such times of
testing? An extract from a past editorial sheds some light. The writer admonishes us to
offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving and dedication unto our Lord.
Indeed, may we heed advice from the past and be
like the wise builder who digs down deep and lays the foundation on the rock. May we be
like the one who goes to our Lord and hears His words and puts them into practice. May we
be like David who will not sacrifice to the Lord offerings that cost him nothing.
Sometimes in tough times, we wonder what part we
can play. Let us seek the Lord about these big matters and let us continue to be faithful
in small things.
In this issue of TCF News, our contributors focus
on the daily faith and faithfulness that God calls us to as Christian teachers
faith in Him to guide our steps and faithfulness in serving people through the tasks He
has assigned us. This is true whether we are currently teaching, retired, a student at
Bible college or NIE, a staff worker or a missionary. These are just some of the parts
played by TCF members and friends as co-workers with our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
We hope that these pages will bless you as much as they have blessed us in putting them
together.

Thanksgiving and dedication. We were just in the
canteen the other day when one of us sighed, is it all worth it? There seems to be no end
to the work we do. We can never seem to say that the task is finished. Yet count your
blessings how can we murmur against the Lord when so many, professionals or
non-professionals, are being retrenched, when pay-cuts become common occurrences and
businesses suffer losses. Dare we complain? Let us instead offer a sacrifice of
thanksgiving and dedication unto our Lord. It will cost us, but we owe it to Him who has
paid the greatest price. Mabel Lie
